Everything is closed today because of Christmas, so it’s a good thing if you’re used to eating out. Now you have no choice but to stay indoors! :)

Of course, if you decide to hit the movies today since that’s what most people do while on vacation, try to stock up on some healthy alternatives to take with you. It’s so easy to cave into that buttery goodness at the theater, but not if you come prepared with your own tasty stash.

Here are a few ideas:

Trail mix with fresh nuts and dried fruit (make sure the nuts and dried fruit are raw and not roasted in any oil, that kind of defeats the purpose).

A big bottle of water. Filling up on soda and juice just adds empty calories to your diet. You could use those calories for something else.

Air popped popcorn. Did you know that 5 cups of air popped popcorn only has 120 calories? Awesome!

Baked chips.

Dried fruit strips instead of gummy bears.

You don’t have to go overboard, and can still eat some junk food. But remember when you watch a movie you may not realize just how much or just what you’re putting in your mouth.
