The Savvy Hijabi: More Great Finds from Amazon
March 12th, 2009I’ve reached the point of having to spend money on good shoes after a youth of abusing my feet (wearing shoes too small, ballet toe shoes, broken toes, etc.).
If you KNOW what you want-that is, you know the brand of shoe, online shopping is great, particularly through Amazon.
There are a lot of European designer shoes. I think most women do not understand that for most of the Euro brands, they need to order up ½ to one whole size. That is why you should try on a pair in a department or shoe store first. They have Sesto Meucci, Mephisto, DKNY, Aquatalia by Marvin K., ASGI, Corso Como, Botkier, Bally, and many others. As well as more commonly known shoe brands like J-41, Merell, and Keen.
Again, these models will be offered in certain sizes, color and styles. There are usually promotional offers for shoes as well.
The key to shopping on Amazon is to get used to their system of organization.
For example, I might hit the choice Apparel and Accessories first and see what promotions they or other sellers are offering. Then I might narrow it down several times-using women, accessories, the type of handbag or shoe, or I might use leather and color, or price point or even percentage off (I tend to go for the 70% off and more category first!)
I have not only bought books from Amazon.com, but handbags, shoes, electronics (my camera, digital recorder, a new laptop charger), perfume, clothing, grocery items.
The ease of purchase, the prices, and lack of add-ons (shipping, etc.) make Amazon a very attractive place to purchase goods from within your own home.
I have also dealt with other sellers who used Amazon, and I myself sold used books from there for awhile. They have a unique system for customer service in addition to the usual chat line-you leave your phone number, and almost immediately your phone rings and a HUMAN is on the line.
My experiences have been positive enough that I have continued to patronize them. My new shopping effort is going after scarves. They have beautiful, hand painted silk scarves, and low cost woolen shawls…but that is for next week!
