So everyone has already written about GOOP, Gwyneth Paltrow’s newest project, but I thought I’d throw in my two cents in as well.

There’s been talk about Paltrow being out of touch and making recommendations that are less than shocking. (Pride and Prejudice on a reading list? Never would have thought of it.)

I agree that she probably doesn’t realize her audience when she’s writing her weekly emails. When she wrote about a week-long detox, I couldn’t help but laugh at her advice.

But I do think the Web site and newsletters give insight into a world that we’d likely never see otherwise.

For better or worse, we have access to Stephen Spielberg’s movie recommendations, as well as Mario Batali’s recipes.

You even get the latest on what Madonna’s reading and can learn how to dress like Paltrow.

GOOP may not be very practical, but I know I’ll keep subscribing. At least as long as there’s hope that Chris Martin will make an appearance one of these days.
