A lot of women deck out in white for their wedding day, but don’t think they can ever pull off such a dramatic color any other day.

White is dramatic because it’s very bright and can draw attention in the wrong way if it’s not worn properly.

Too many times we’ve been able to see through someone’s outfit to what’s underneath and it’s an awkward situation.

Do you tell the person you can see their undies? Or do you just look away and hope that no one else noticed?

Here are a few tips to keep you from sharing your boudoir with the rest of the population:

  • Make sure to wear a slip underneath a white skirt. Even if you have lining, white is very see through in the sunshine!
  • Don’t think just because you’re wearing a white jilbab that you can skip wearing clothes underneath on a hot day, we can see what’s underneath, so make sure that you wear a full length slip or other clothing.
  • If you’re going to wear white pants, the best option is to have a shirt that is long enough to cover your behind. (Then you don’t have to worry about any mishaps).
  • But if your shirt is going to be on the short side, wear some flesh colored Spanx or other control shorts instead of your usual underwear to keep the lines smooth.
  • For dresses and tops, wear a flesh colored bra or a full length slip that has a built in bra. Again you can find control slips that will help keep everything tucked in and prevent lines.
  • As far as white hijabs go, most of the time they are indeed see-through. Wear a white undercap underneath for a seamless look or wear a colored undercap to give it a pop of color.

Tip: If you think thongs are a great way to keep from showing your undies, think again! If you wear white, you can pretty much guarantee we can see it all. Thongs are best left worn under darker colors.

I love your tips on wearing white. I would love to wear more of it (other than a shirt) but my only problem is always feeling that white will make me look bigger than I am. I would very much want to tell a person that I see their undies but I know I’d feel rather embarrassed myself in doing so! I would hate for anyone to look away if it was me so I would think someone else would appreciate me whispering to them discreetly.

I think anyone can wear white as long as you pull it off with confidence.

It’s definitely something that can make you feel bigger, but if you have an outfit or dress that fits and is not super sized you can look quite elegant.

I think part of the problem when it comes to being bigger in size is that a lot of women over estimate and think they’re bigger than they really are.

I know I used to have so many over-sized baggy clothes and I realize now looking back that part of not feeling good was because my clothes didn’t fit right.

i have to agree with you Mariam, when i wear oversize shirt or dress, the truth is when i look back at pictures i look even bigger than i thought i’m, so with wearing the right size, and color for that matter makes me look and feel better :)

today I saw a hijabi girl in sheer white blouse with dark black bra underneath! Her hijab does not cover her back nor her front… it’s a tiny scarf with no hair showing. She’s also a little on the chubby side so you can “see” more… I can’t believe my eyes…. I wish to give the benefit of the doubt, but surely you would know that a black bra under a sheer white cloth, SHOWS?? so I guess some girls really want it to show….. and in that case, no use pointing out the obvious.
