My thoughts and Hijabtrendz two years later
August 4th, 2009
Living in Chicago has been quite an amazing experience.
There is always something going on and there are always plenty of people up and about day or night.
It’s interesting in a way because before I moved here I could never imagine living in a big city, let alone right in the heart of downtown. How do people sleep with all that noise? Is it safe? There are so many homeless people!
After being here for 4 years I’ve learned to love this place. I remember the first year was tough, but maybe it’s because I had just gotten married and left home for the first time.
Everything was intimidating and overwhelming, but now I know the city like the back of my hand; I can spot a tourist from a mile away, and I know who’s really homeless and who’s just trying to scam you.
It’s funny how when you’re in the moment you never notice what’s around you or how good you have it, and then when you look back you think, why didn’t I take advantage of all that?
Sometimes I wish that I did more before I started to have kids because now it’s hard to do many things since I have an extra person(s) to worry about.
The one thing that I have to teach myself though, is to not live with regrets. It’s so easy to get sucked into negative thinking and wish that you had done more with your life, but the best thing is to move forward.
I remember reading in a book once that dwelling on your past is like a disease and it can eat away at you unless you do something about it. Although it’s not a new year, I’m going to make my own resolutions to do better.
Each day I’ll try to tackle something greater and I’ll try my best to push that negative voice to the back while I focus on the future and moving forward.
Hijabtrendz is coming up on its second year anniversary and this month I’d like to celebrate our success with every one of you.
I can sit back and think “oh I should have posted more pictures” or “if only I wrote about this” or “I should have produced lots of videos”.
But the truth is that will get me nowhere, and in fact we’ve already gotten somewhere.
Two years later and we’ve grown with our readers and I’m thankful for that. I’m extremely grateful that you’ve stuck around and watched us grow.
I pray that we have many more years ahead of us to entertain and inform you, and I thank you for letting us be a part of your life.
I’m always looking to improve the site and love getting feedback, so here is my question, how did you find out about Hijabtrendz and what is your favorite part of the site?
