Cool! I needed that service about four weeks ago, but I had to do it for myself. I intend to blog about all of that, but for a nutshell…a big one I guess…
Insha Allah I will soon be looking for investors for my chain of gender-specific fitness centers in the US. Then I will need to act as CEO until I find the perfect person for the job, so it became time for me to acquire a trendy, tall, business, hijabi wardrobe. OMG What a task! I know the colors that suit my skin tone, and I know how to dress my body shape (from reading It’s So You! Fitting Fashion to Your Life). I have finally figured out my signature accessory (chunky vintage bracelets), so all that’s left is finding (and paying for) the clothes. NOTHING in Islamic stores works for me ’cause I’m tall, so I had to turn to a tall specialty store. I chose Long Tall Sally in the U.K. Ugh, the prices after converting to USD are shocking…hmm a business investment, ya, that’s it. I do feel and look the part in those clothes though
I’m thinking of posting a headless pic on my blog with one of my outfits from there.
Dara
Dara your story cracks me up
But yeah clothing really is essential when it comes to the corporate world and doing business. Islamic clothing stores are slooooowly coming around, although it seems they’re still more focused on the “ethnic” styles rather than incorporating modern looks with hijab.
Good luck on your project! and do post pics of your outfits
I think this is a good thing and I wonder why it’s just now coming into the light. Hijab and non-hijabs like makeovers and can always use style tips and personal help. Women are women and we like fashion and looking nice like everyone else. I wish this was available, and affordable to me right now or in my home even! For now Hijabtrendz does the job. I just thank God I have a pc!
As Salaamu ‘Alaykum Sis Dara,
Ma sha Allah, it’s not a sin to be tall, it’s a big blessing. I’m 5ft 10″ so, I can relate (though I don’t know how tall you are). I very rarely buy clothes from Islamic boutiques, because they just don’t work for me. Why don’t you try designers like Jaeger (makes wool long skirts with no slits), Ralph Lauren (even I have to hem my skirts and pants since they’re so long), Michael Kors (makes very long pants).
Personally, I have a large collection of haute couture pieces that are very hijab friendly for the muhajibah that likes to indulge in a little soiree from time to time. If Sis Mariam does not mind, I will let her know once I launch my website, so everyone can shop
Eid mubarak everyone.

Salaams! I would love it. I love to watch what not to wear (when I actually have time to sit down).
I don’t have any luck with the local Islamic boutiques here either.
Either it’s UGLY or for a size two. Sometimes both lol.
Now if I can just get them to pay for it for me lol.
Dara, I love your idea!
Mimie do let me know when your store opens up I’d love to do a post
Asalamu alaikum !
I know this was in 2009 but as a very tall girl i find it hard to hijabify myself! And yes Islamic stores the clothes are small and to be honest i just become depressed with trying to find something that works! I usually wear high neck top under a dress with trousers, but i am not confident enough to wear hijab, my long hair has been a comfy security i guess for me to hide with. I really need to become more confident! At 19 im beginning to find my sense of self though Alhamdulillah. I would like to read any blog or see shops that specialises in tall muslima insha Allah ? jazakAllahu khair
