I have pretty bad luck with boots. For years I’ve been looking for the PERFECT pair of boots that would work well in the snow and also look fashionable. I want some that have just the right heel height and fit me snugly. Plus, I’d like some I could stick my pants into when the weather gets really bad.
And I think that’s my problem. I want too much out of one pair of boots.
But they’re a big investment. A good pair can cost hundreds of dollars. Even on the lower end, boots are expensive.
So once again, I’m on a quest this year.
And I need to find some shoes soon. It’s been raining non-stop in Chicago, and the hems of my pants have been consistently wet. It’s quite annoying.
Snow’s on its way as well, and Chicago winters are pretty brutal. It’s the worst feeling when you have to sit at work or school all day with your feet soaking.
However, the more useful boots always tend to be the ugliest. My sister and I were discussing rain boots, and we agreed that most of them are just too brightly colored to be worn in public. Target has a huge selection, but they all seem a bit childish.
And then, of course, there are Ugg’s.
I hate to admit it, but I kind of like Ugg’s now. I’ve always hated the trend, but they are very practical in the snow. Will I finally break down and buy a pair this year? We shall see. I actually really like this pair.

Anyone have suggestions for a good pair of boots?

As Salaamu ‘Alaykum,
Aha! Finally, someone with the same problem as I. See, I have a baby and I can’t wear boots with heels and push a stroller at the same time, or worse try running after a toddler that just discovered her legs. So, I found the perfect pair by Roger Viver. They were pricey and they only had 1 in my size. I decided to wait till closer to Thanksgiving hoping that the price would drop. Alas, I found out that they had sold them
I am sooooo picky about my boots. It took me forever to find this pair and now they’re gone.
Heya…
Oh my this must be some kind of universal problem. I live in the U.K and i’m in exactly the same situation as you. Also like you i’ve made a pact with myself not to fall into the trend and by those UGGs, but somehow i might have to break that pact. I also find that when i by boots, by the end of the winter the heel is slightly damaged so makes me sleep, which makes it harder, as i have to find a heel that is small but is going to last me a while..
Hope we both find boot closure soon
xxxx
Asalamualaikum Nadia,
I love boots, but here in this part of California we don’t have snow so I don’t have any need of boots. But I do know how it feels when you can’t find the right pair of shoes. I know of this one website called ALDO.com they’ve got great boots and shoes, but the pricing ranges so I don’t know if it’ll be of help. Plus, try Payless Shoesource, they’ve got a very wide variety of boots this season. InshaAllah I’ve been of some help.
Salam,
Zeynub
Gah! I know what you mean. I used to hate the way UGGS are shaped…but they are comfy and practical, and some of the new styles they’re making look really nice.
But now they’ve just become TOO popular. I know as soon as I cave in and buy some, everyone will finally be sick of them and they’ll be OUT.
Mimie, I know most people are advocates of waiting to buy things, but I always follow the philosophy that if I REALLY want something, I should just get it. But of course that’s not always prudent.
I’m glad that I’m not the only one with this dilemma. But I wish there was an easy solution!
Though Aamina, I think if you go to a shoe repair place they can replace heels that have worn down. I think it isn’t too expensive either.
Zeynub, I love Aldo, but their shoes aren’t always the MOST comfortable. But I think I’m going to have to dedicate one day to some serious boot shopping and check out as many stores as I can.
Lupi, I know what you mean. I’ll buy a pair and then be totally out of fashion!
