Best Buy gives Eid greetings
November 24th, 2009
We have to give props to one of our dear readers, Sarah G. because she sent us an email about Best Buy giving Eid greetings.
If you look at the ad above (via Techcrunch), you’ll notice there is a little line that says “Happy Eid al-Adha”.
We thought it might be a hoax when we first saw it because, well, when did any company actually acknowledge their Muslim consumer base?
We followed up with Best Buy to make sure this was factual before we posted it and here is what they told us:
“We did include the Muslim holiday greeting you suggested in our national insert last Sunday. Best Buy’s customers and employees around the world represent a variety of faiths and denominations. We respect that diversity and choose to greet our customers and employees in ways that reflect their traditions. We are trying to communicate positive, inclusive wishes to the communities we serve, in the best spirit of the Holiday Season.”
What do you think about Best Buy recognizing a Muslim holiday?

Woah, that is awesome! I think it’s amazing that we’re being noticed in a good way. I hope they keep up the positive opinions about Muslims, InshaAllah.
I think it is awesome! more of us muslims should root them on, in these times they are doing us a huge service, hope other businesses start recognizing us as part of their communities…Thank you Best Buy for taking a step in the right direction..
yes totally awesome! makes me feel very special:D
OOH! here i come with something a little somber… i am wondering if the Eid were to fall in say march or april, during a period where there were basically no hoildays for the west, if they would do the same thing, do you know what i mean? I just wonder!!! lets see if they do it next year inshaa Allah! but for now yes its pretty cool!!
I thought this was cool, but I honestly don’t know why they did it. Supposedly they stopped saying Merry Christmas in 2006 in their ads because they did not want to offend anyone….so why all of a sudden Happy eid? Maybe its a marketing strategy to get Muslims to love BB and go buy there, who knows. But its still cool
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally?? thats a big hmmmmmmmm, lol. i am thinkin they did their research and being that eid is so close to thanksgiving they picked up on a great opportunity, thats marketing for ya! lol. anyhow i am liking the thought of people thinkin ‘what is Eid al ahda?’ and inshaa Allah it will bring more people to the deen!! haha!!
It made me really happy and I actually sent them an email thanking them, because they are getting a lot of hate mails. I remember when Eid was same week as xmas, no one mentioned it… so i think this is a good thing, I’m also pretty sure that they’re trying to be strategic in their marketing, let’s face it, its all about making money… and this tells me they get a lot of muslims lol
