Auditions and my improv show

I’ve had quite a few auditions pop up over the last few weeks from voice overs to short films and a reality show.

We shall see what happens. I used to get so worked up and keep thinking about whether I’d get the part or not. Now, I’ve learned to let go and if it’s meant to be it will happen.

I had an audition yesterday for a short film and for some reason I just felt like I couldn’t get into the role. I’m not sure why I have this issue, but I’ve noticed that when I’m in a new situation with people I’ve just met, it takes me a few extra minutes to let loose. But the problem is, I don’t always have a few extra minutes. You’re expected to give it your best shot the first time around

I have to admit that I was a little confused with the whole story line. I had read the script the night before and memorized the lines that my agent told me to. And then when I got there it was a whole different explanation of how my character should act. I didn’t want to say anything to the folks doing the casting because I don’t think you’re supposed to say anything or make excuses. They did ask if I had questions before the audition started, but I honestly didn’t. I had tons of questions after the whole scenario was explained, but by then it was too late.

Anyhow, all I can do is wait. They are doing callbacks for this role. So if they saw some potential in me, they will call me back to audition again.

In other news, today is the day for X-Factor auditions in Chicago. (Actually it’s more like a suburb of Chicago that’s over 1 hour from here). The first day is registration and then tomorrow is the actual “waiting for a turn to sing” day. I’m still on the fence about whether I’ll go for it. I feel like I have so many other things going on in my life that I don’t have time to waist waiting for 10 hours. It probably sounds like I’m not a go-getter when I say that, but I’d rather be working towards other projects that I know have a future.

And finally the improv class I’m taking will have their showcase this Sunday at 7pm. I’m excited because it’s always fun to get out there on stage and perform. It feels great to let go and feel like I’ve accomplished something.

If you’re in the area and want to attend shoot me an email and I’ll give you the details.

How is everyone else doing? Are you in the midst of finals or graduation? Or getting ready for some summer fun? Do share!
