Where my hijabi party girls at?

What happened to girls parties?

I don’t know if I’m getting old or if people don’t do them anymore, because I haven’t been to one in years!

It seems like most gatherings are mixed, which is fine, but it doesn’t lend itself to the crazy wild times I enjoyed in the past. We’re talking dancing, costume parties, getting our hair done and not worrying about impressing anyone besides ourselves. Basically giving us hijabis an excuse to deck out!

I miss being able to buy a really fancy gown and for a nice formal evening with friends. One of my favorite events was when a friend of mine planned a reunion back where my parents live, since many of us have moved away or gotten married etc. It was a great time to reconnect but the amazing part was how she made it really cool. She had a limo pick us all up and take us to dinner at the country club. We had a private room with female wait staff and were able to dress up and let it all hang out lol.

I do have “girls night out” on occasion with friends, but I need some partying where I’m not confined in my hijab, I want to let loose! Maybe it’s time for me to bring back the party lifestyle to my community here and give them a taste of what it’s like lol.

Now that I think of it, I should look into the party room in my building and see if I can host a girls only party to usher in the end of winter! 🙂

What do you think? Have you seen a decrease in girls only social gatherings as you’ve gotten older? Or does it depend on the community you live in?

    @Zeynub, if you’re in Chicago I’ll invite you 🙂
    @Afshi come over the border to the US 🙂
    @Jodi, Saudi parties are really fun. I miss those days. I wish you were here too so you could have fun with us. Maybe I should do one here and if it’s a success we can do party tours in other states 😉

    I’ve never been to one but always wanted to go to one! A sister from Saudi Arabia used to clue me in on them and they always seemed like a blast! She’d always receive party favors with bakhoor, oud oil, kajal, a piece of jewelry and sweet treats to take home from the ones she went to! The fancy gowns or designer outfits, the makeup, hair, nail and cosmetic sessions. The delightful foods and treats. The nasheeds and music and even the prayers. Her pictures looked like such great fun and she would tease me saying that “what goes on at a hijabi party…stays at a hijabi party!” lol Good, clean fun for ladies only! She’s since went back home and I wish I had other women around me who might be interested. It would be nice to attend one with women of all ages! If you plan one Mariam please let us know how it goes! Wish I lived near you! 🙂

    Hmmm, lol, I’ve never been to one. The ones that I’ve been to have guys that are like 12, so some women would take their hijabs off. But I don’t, ’cause well, those guys already have a certain ‘understanding’ of things. I’ve always wanted to go to one that have only women. Maybe someday, InshaAllah.
