Don’t get wrinkled skin in winter

If you aren’t careful your skin can age prematurely.

How is that possible?

Well, the damaging rays from the sun and not using any sun protection.

In the winter we tend to overlook the necessity for sunscreen because it’s usually something we only think of when it’s hot and we’re hitting the beach or outdoor pool.

But, it’s important to make sure we stay safe if we want to protect ourselves from sun damage, which can lead to skin cancer and yes, wrinkled skin.

Have you ever seen someone who used to be a complete sun worshiper  Forget that bizarre lady known as “tan mom”, I’m talking about folks in their 60’s and 70’s who used to tan outdoors or in salons for decades. Now their skin is leathery looking, sagging and dull.

You don’t want that do you? Neither do I!

Of course, part of this is the aging process and we can’t do anything about it. But we can be preventative. And that means using products with SPF in them to try to deflect some of the damage and push it off for some time.

One of the products I use year round is this lotion from Neutrogena:

lotion with SPF

I know that studies show that SPF 15 doesn’t do much anymore and they are starting to recommend much higher levels, but this works for me at the moment. I’m thinking to ask my dermatologist for other recommendations since regular sunscreen tends to leave me very greasy.

What are your favorite products with SPF? Do you do anything special to protect your skin in winter?

Sister not trying to be “haram police” but I had to throw my Neutrogena facial lotion away a couple of months ago when I learned from its customer service number that it uses non halal ingredients.
