Sometimes I forget how lucky I am

Mariam Sobh Hijab Fashion and Hijab Style Blog

It’s so easy to be down on myself and see everything that is not perfect in my life.

We have no idea where my daughter will be going to school next fall, our apartment building is full of things that bug me, including neighbors who smoke like a chimney and it filters into our place.

And I often feel that I’m not in control of my life when I get so wrapped up in these things.

What I forget is that I am actually quite blessed.

My family is healthy and happy, and we live in one of the greatest city’s in the world.

Last night we decided to head out to Buckingham Fountain. It’s less than a 10 minute drive from where we live.

And it hit me as I saw all the tourists taking pictures.

Wow, I’m lucky. I have all these amazing attractions literally in my own backyard! I can be a tourist every day of the year if I want and don’t have to travel too far.

I have a roof over my head, food in my fridge, clothes on my back and a really good job.

Note to self: live in the moment!

How do you live in the moment when life seems to get you down?

Mariam, this is one of the most perfect post ever. I daily talk about how blessed I feel just to be able to walk into my kitchen and turn on the water and drink a cup of fresh, clean and cold water. Or flip a switch and my lights suddenly turn on! Despite whatever I go through day to day, I am so thankful for everything that I have, and everything I DON’T have. With so much suffering and misery around the world, especially for women and children, I have it good! I feel spiritually rich! Every day is a new blessing to me…no matter what. If the day turns out not so great, it’s never over until the next day dawns, so there’s plenty of room for improvement! Thank you for sharing this with us. As always, you look gorgeous and that fountain is amazing. Yes, you do live in a wonderful place (in more ways than one…hint, hint.) Big hug sis! 🙂

Excellent post. I needed it today. My neighbors smoke on the front steps of the apartment building, and I get upset that I can never open my windows because it blows right into my windows. I have a headache, my food was gross this morning. This post has reminded me that I have a home to open and close windows. I have food, even if it wasn’t quite right today. I am alive and the worst thing happening is my headache? I’d say that’s a lot better than most people. Thank you. And that fountain is awesome 🙂 Cute pictures 🙂 Have a great day.
