Perfume is hard to shop for

If there is one thing I’d advise against buying someone as a gift… it’s perfume.

Unless of course you know exactly the scent someone loves.

I’m one of those people who has a particularly sensitive sense of smell. Certain perfumes give me a headache from the moment I smell it until the next day.

I noticed my sense of smell became extremely heightened when I got pregnant with my first daughter, and it never really died down.

Or.. maybe I always had it and never noticed? lol.

In any case, finding the right thing is really hard for me personally. I have to pray a little bit on my arm and let it settle for the rest of the day.

If I don’t get a headache, it’s a go!

I was recently shopping and came across two perfumes that smelled very similar.

Burberry and Nude by Rihanna.

The Burberry perfume was a heavier smell, but I could feel the hint of a headache coming on. Nude by Rihanna, on the other hand, was a lighter fresher version.

And, at the end of the day, Nude still smelled great and my head wasn’t throbbing.

I don’t know what is in these perfumes that set off my headaches, but that’s how I have go about my shopping haha.

And then when I find the perfect smell that doesn’t set me off, I end up using only that one until I run out. And often… the perfume ends up discontinued by then and I have to start my search all over again LOL!

How do you select a perfume? What are your favorite scents?

@Ayanna, I’ll have to check that out. I used to love Body Shop stuff back in the day, kind of forgot about them hehe.
@Farhana I agree, love the Crystal deodorant. I go back and forth between the natural stuff and a regular one. Cause sometimes I need some extra power when I’m working out LOL!

Keeping clean and Crystal natural deodorant does the trick for my family. Not a big fan of hazradous chemicals, essential oil diffuser helps too.

Nothing too fruity or nothing to air freshner fragrancy (I just made that word up 🙂 ) . I just happened upon a small bottle of Honeymania from The Body Shop while I was in Marshall’s. Loved it and bought it because it was right up my alley.
