Like it or leave it: Perfect fit button

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

We recently saw an advertisement for this product on TV that claims to be able to help you keep your pants whether you go up or down in sizes.

It’s called The Perfect Fit Button.

Basically it’s an extra button you can snap onto your waistband and “ta-da” no need to buy a new pair of pants.

Perfect Fit Button™ The Quickest, Easiest Way to Add or Reduce Inches on the Waist Band of your Pants!

We don’t know if it would actually work though because if you’re going down in sizes it might make your pants look bunched up. On second thought it may be great for a quick fix.

What’s the verdict, like it or leave it?

Hijabtrendz caught up with the girl behind the site, Mayya Al Said, and asked her to let us know more about her, why she sews, and life in Oman.

Pantyhose that separate your toes

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

We were recently contacted by this company about a product that enables you to wear thong sandals while still wearing pantyhose.

Notch-Toe Pantyhose

The product is advertised as “The first and original notch-toe pantyhose”

We’re not sure how we feel… it kind of reminds us of those socks that looked like gloves for your feet.

We’d definitely have to try a pair though before coming to any conclusions.

Like it or leave it? Would you wear something like this?

AL-MOTAHAJIBA

Monday, August 25th, 2008

The name of this store translates into our modern term of “The Hijabi” and therefore this store is all about hijab.

Al-Motahajiba is located in several countries and is a great source of inspiration for hijab styles and if you’re into the whole abaya/sheila world you can see some great examples.

According to the site’s history page:

Al Motahajiba, is the most famous and glamorous brand name in the fashion design sphere of the Gulf and Arab woman. This great success is due to our continuous determination to design the most fashionable dresses for the purpose of fulfilling women’s needs and desires. Nevertheless, these dresses still conform to the Arab values, customs and traditions, while taking into consideration the Arab woman’s need for practicality in her daily performance at home, at work and at her other activities.

If you remember our podcast on abaya fashion in  Saudi Arabia and how women are designing their own, you’ll be thrilled to know that Al-Motahajiba offers custom design services! So, if you have a great idea send them your information and now you’ll have the most unique abaya on the block.

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Going to a formal event and need a gown? Check out this ensemble.

It’s easy to hijabify dressy outfits, but the key is finding all the little pieces to put it together.

Beaded halter gown $69.95 from Carabella, Silver silk chiffon scarf $25 from Nimli, Bolero jacket $49.99 (in satin or georgette) from Discount Dressup.

Note: Wear a gray, silver, or white hijab with this outfit. Do not wear a black hijab or you’ll look too matchy-matchy.
