What to Wear to a Turkey Dinner

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

If you are invited or hosting Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and are still trying to figure out what to wear here are some tips:

Look through your closet and see if you have any of the following:

  • Formal shirt
  • Dress pants
  • Full length skirt
  • Maxi dress
  • Suit jacket
  • Abaya

Don’t worry about buying anything new, work with what you already have.

Sometimes we forget we have the perfect outfit until we actually go through and evaluate our closet.

You don’t have to be super dressed up.

The key is to spice up your outfit and give it a “festive fall feel”.

  • Pair a formal suit jacket with nice boot cut jeans and dressy boots.

Pictured Above (L-R): Unlisted by Kenneth Cole, Nader by Calvin Klein, Garnier by GUESS all from Piper Lime.

  • Wear a plain t-shirt with a fancy skirt.

Pictured Above (L-R): Spice Road Skirt, Knit Skirt, Silk Road Skirt all from Soft Surroundings.

  • Bust out the sparkly abaya and ditch the matching sheila for another scarf to help tone it down.

Pictured Above (L-R): Silver Lined Rayon Wrap, Ihsan Rayon Wrap, Paisley Leaf Jacquard Wrap, all by Shukr.

  • Browse through your accessories and jewelry.

Pictured Above (L-R): Plum Clutch, Faux-Pearl Bracelets, Crimson Earrings all from Old Navy.

If you’re still having trouble, just take some time to think it over.

Do you have anything with earthy tones?

Look for darker shades of color, it’s about a more natural look, no more bright neon.

Put it all together in one full swoop and now you’re ready to rock that party.

Just for Fun: Bring along some sweatpants in case you eat too much and need something with a little extra s-t-r-e-t-c-h!
