Hijabtrendz Exclusive

We recently had a quick Q&A with the gals behind the fashion line KANZI which was recently featured at Dubai Fashion Week.

Who are the designer/designers behind Kanzi?

Shk Amal Mana Rashid Al Maktoum & Mrs. Raghda Taryam<

What does the name Kanzi mean and why did you choose it?

Kanzi’s literal meaning is ‘my treasure’ in Arabic. It was selected to represent the brand ethos of Kanzi; ‘treasured luxury’.

What is the story behind the clothing line? Who is the woman in mind?

The Kanzi brand was established in 2008 designing exclusive abayas, jalabiyas, evening wear and custom made wedding dresses. The label was created to provide high quality products for Arab and Muslim women, whilst the evening and wedding wear is for any woman looking for a treasured item of clothing that will last.

Versatile sweater adds hijab fashion friendly options

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Every savvy shopper knows that the best things to buy are things to purchase are those that will get lots of mileage out of their use.

I have to say this sweater is one of those really great deals because you basically have 6 outfits in one and it’s totally hijab fashion friendly.

If you can figure out more options on how to wear it, more power to you!

I absolutely love that it’s on sale, its comes in a variety of colors, and best of all that you can play around with it and make up your own way to wear it.

This is definitely something that is getting two thumbs up!

Fall Hijab Fashion 2009: Smart investments

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

In this final post about Fall Hijab fashion 2009 we bring you the smart investment report. According to Style.com “In risky times, nothing spells sartorial security like a Burberry trench, a Chanel suit, or, just possibly, a swaggering fur-lapel great coat from Hermès.”

What it’s all about is finding key pieces (think trench coats, wool coats, blazers, suit jackets) that are going to be stylish and timeless.

These are pieces you “invest” in because they’ll last you a lifetime. Look for quality material when buying these items and you’ll not be disappointed.

Key pieces to help get you started:

Tanjay menswear tweed jacket $65.00 at Dillards

Wool trenchcoat $34.99 at Charlotte Russe

Black and ivory suit $179.99 at Jones New York

Sparkle suit pants $290.00 at Nicole Miller

Winter dilemma

pop culture hijabi

I have pretty bad luck with boots. For years I’ve been looking for the PERFECT pair of boots that would work well in the snow and also look fashionable. I want some that have just the right heel height and fit me snugly. Plus, I’d like some I could stick my pants into when the weather gets really bad.

And I think that’s my problem. I want too much out of one pair of boots.
But they’re a big investment. A good pair can cost hundreds of dollars. Even on the lower end, boots are expensive.
So once again, I’m on a quest this year.
And I need to find some shoes soon. It’s been raining non-stop in Chicago, and the hems of my pants have been consistently wet. It’s quite annoying.
Snow’s on its way as well, and Chicago winters are pretty brutal. It’s the worst feeling when you have to sit at work or school all day with your feet soaking.

However, the more useful boots always tend to be the ugliest. My sister and I were discussing rain boots, and we agreed that most of them are just too brightly colored to be worn in public. Target has a huge selection, but they all seem a bit childish.
And then, of course, there are Ugg’s.

UGG® Australia 'Classic Tall' Boot (Walker, Toddler, Little Kid & Big Kid)

I hate to admit it, but I kind of like Ugg’s now. I’ve always hated the trend, but they are very practical in the snow. Will I finally break down and buy a pair this year? We shall see. I actually really like this pair.

Anyone have suggestions for a good pair of boots?
