Behind the Screen: Hijab styles and spring!

Behind the Screen

The weather is warming up quite a bit and over the last few days it has been in the high 30’s which has really lifted my mood.

I’ve been really busy with work and plan to get back to filming more hijab fashion videos and hijab style tutorials, but I wanted to know if there are any specific topics you’d like me to talk about on video or even certain hijab styles?

A very generous reader sent me a book of hijab styles from Egypt that I plan to incorporate into the tutorials, but I have to admit some of them look a little odd and seem like they’ll take up too much time.

I personally am not a fan of over-the-top hijab styles because they don’t look good unless you’re going to some super fancy party or are a tween, and I honestly don’t have more than 3 minutes to get ready without someone needing something from me it seems. :)

But I guess that’s where things differ at least in the U.S. versus the Middle East.

Oscar fashion trends for the hijabi

Friday, March 5th, 2010

The Oscars are this Sunday and if you’re like us you may want to check out the pre-show to get a sneak peek at some of the trends and of course those gorgeous gowns!

We’ll be tweeting live starting from the pre-show on some of our favorite looks from the red carpet and our ideas on how to hijabify the outfits.

Make sure to follow Hijabtrendz on twitter to get the tweets and reply back with your ideas too!

In the meantime, here is a scoop we have for you.

Did you know that some of the stars will be using special products to get ready for their big debut down the red carpet?

Hijabtrendz will have an exclusive review of the makeup line “Smart Cover” which is a product used by celebrity makeup artist Christina Smith. It’s used to cover up tattoos, dark circles, blemishes, etc. and you can mix and match the different colors to make a custom shade for yourself. We’ll be trying that out and doing a before/after photo for you to see what it does.

And coming soon is a giveaway for a lunchtime chemical peel courtesy of Dr. Lawrence Moy. A lot of Hollywood stars get their skin glowing with this procedure because it helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and best of all it helps to reduce the damage your skin may already have from the sun.

Keep an eye out for the review and giveaway and get ready to glow!

Hijab Style File: Casual Spring Outfit

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

We were invited to try out this site looklet.com and it’s actually pretty neat, although the selection is quite limited.
But here is our first montage. What do you think?

Hijab style tips: Pair a nice white pant or skirt with a super flowy top and some earth toned sandals. Add a pop of color with a bright handbag and a subtle scarf will even things out.
