Hijab Style Trends 2010: Hijab fashion inspired by the Oscars

Monday, March 8th, 2010

We’re going to see more and more hijab fashion inspired by the looks on the red carpet and the Oscars are a great way to usher in Spring!

Hijab style trends of spring and summer 2010 are going to be filled with these top five looks that we got a preview of last night:

  1. Jewel tones.
  2. Ombre prints.
  3. Watercolor and floral patterns.
  4. Jeweled accessories (brooches, hijab pins, extra beading that you can place anywhere to add a little bling).
  5. Lots of purple in all shades from pastel to dark purple.

What are you favorite looks from the red carpet?

Hijab Style File: bringing back the bling with rings

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

The easiest way to change up your hijab style is by using accessories.

We admit that it’s not always easy to find things that are appealing to your own personal taste, so it can be a little overwhelming.

But we came across these large cocktail rings on etsy.com and were quite excited. (Click on the pictures to be taken to the site)

There are hundreds of different styles it’s so hard to choose a few to showcase.

We love supporting people who make their own jewelry and the thought that you can add some sparkle without spending a fortune.

The great thing about this is that you can totally make a statement with just one piece of jewelry.

Tip: Choose a big bold colorful ring and it can dress up anything. Don’t forget to add a little nailpolish for that extra pop and sparkle.

What are you wearing for Eid?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Share with us what you plan to wear and give each other some inspiration. A lot of times Eid can turn into a hijab style dressing rut. Either you go with the same bling bling abaya and hope no one will notice, or you try to pull off something fancy by piling on the jewelry. We’ve been there done that with our own hijab fashion, lol!

This year if you’re not sure about busting out with a whole new wardrobe, put together something neutral and pair it with some fabulous accessories. But don’t go overboard. If you simply pick one of the accessories featured below, you’ll be all set.

Accent your outfit with one of these jeweled items from Newport News

What are your Eid tips this year? Are you wearing something old or something new?

Wild summer with animal prints

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

We just featured this top as one of the not so boring long sleeve shirts on the market. It has some animal-like prints and is great for a summer shindig because it’s casual yet formal at the same time.

Dress it up with some white relaxed fit pants or a skirt.

Wear a white tank top underneath for coverage. Cover your hair with a white or black sheila and for added pizazz you can wear a turquoise under-scarf and have it just peek from beneath the sheila.

5-stone Turquoise Bracelet $336.00 from Turquoise Jewelry,

Beaded Tunic $109.00 from Boston Proper,

Shoes by Charles David $114.95 at Zappos,

Women’s Drawstring Pants $15.00 at Old Navy,
