Share your experiences with hijab
Thursday, July 29th, 2010Want to share your thoughts/experiences on being a Muslim women or wearing hijab? Then feel free to take advantage of these two opportunities:
- Women’s Voices Now (WVN), a new not-for-profit social enterprise based in New York City is having it’s first short-film festival. The festival is open to all filmmakers regardless of gender or background, but the subject matter is specific to women OF ALL FAITHS living in the Muslim world, or Muslim women living as minorities around the globe. For further details about WVN or to submit a film, please visit WomensVoicesNow.org.
- Radio Free Europe and our local reporters have gone out on the street in various countries and ask women why they do (or don’t) wear the hijab. The videos are short, around 5 minutes each, but they give a local perspective into an issue that has become an international debate. Our hope is that more Muslim women will join the debate and upload videos of themselves explaining why they do or do not wear the hijab. You can watch the videos here: http://www.rferl.org/archive/Project_Hijab/latest/3248/3248.html And, if you like, you can send us a video here: webteam@rferl.org
