Winter dilemma
Saturday, November 7th, 2009I have pretty bad luck with boots. For years I’ve been looking for the PERFECT pair of boots that would work well in the snow and also look fashionable. I want some that have just the right heel height and fit me snugly. Plus, I’d like some I could stick my pants into when the weather gets really bad.
And I think that’s my problem. I want too much out of one pair of boots.
But they’re a big investment. A good pair can cost hundreds of dollars. Even on the lower end, boots are expensive.
So once again, I’m on a quest this year.
And I need to find some shoes soon. It’s been raining non-stop in Chicago, and the hems of my pants have been consistently wet. It’s quite annoying.
Snow’s on its way as well, and Chicago winters are pretty brutal. It’s the worst feeling when you have to sit at work or school all day with your feet soaking.
However, the more useful boots always tend to be the ugliest. My sister and I were discussing rain boots, and we agreed that most of them are just too brightly colored to be worn in public. Target has a huge selection, but they all seem a bit childish.
And then, of course, there are Ugg’s.
I hate to admit it, but I kind of like Ugg’s now. I’ve always hated the trend, but they are very practical in the snow. Will I finally break down and buy a pair this year? We shall see. I actually really like this pair.

Anyone have suggestions for a good pair of boots?
