The Savvy Hijabi: Great Finds Online

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Have you subscribed to these? Savvy Hijabi has found these are worth her time to check on in her inbox, or when she is hunting for the best price.

Shop Style:
This is a web site devoted to the fashionable. It’s fun to browse around. You can sign up and choose a fashion personality, or look things up by item and designer. It’s fun, and they give the prices for most department stores, as well as yoox,  and bluefly (which I really like because they always have those silhouettes with the clothing or handbags, accessories, etc. so you know the scale of what you are looking at!).

Daily Candy:
There is a regular dailycandy and one for each large city that will give you cool things to do in the city on the weekends, a focus on new shops, craftspeople, cafes in town. They ALSO will tell you about the moving sample sales for designers.

Pronto:
I like this site because in addition to finding virtually anything (even appliances), they tell you where they are, period. That means you really can see all of the prices, even from places you would not think off.

Gretchens Closet:
As she writes, “It’s not you, it’s your closet.” She has a blog and also a daily coupon and promo code system that is usually exclusive to her. She supports smaller designer shops and eco-friendly shops as well.

Designer Apparel:
Don’t think you cannot afford this; after you put in your preferences, you get a daily email-I don’t always look at it, but-let’s say you are looking for a leather handbag. You can narrow your parameters (say 50-100$ max or you want at least 70% off). Of course if you only want to see YSL, that is also doable. They have clothing and accessories for men and women.

The Savvy Hijabi writes a weekly column that runs every Thursday. If you have a question or comment, send her an email (info@hijabtrendz.com) with Savvy Hijabi in the subject lin

Great Deals on Designer Items

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Designer clothing is usually way too overpriced unless you go to a discount store that can sell it to you at a bargain.

However, there are times you can find designer apparel and buy it while it’s still in style.

You’re most likely to find shoes, clothing and various accessories at amazing prices in between seasons or just before a bunch of new items are added to store shelves.

Sometimes it just takes patience a keen eye and pure luck.

If you find things that are great, but you can’t wear them now (sandals in winter anyone?) then buy stuff you know will be making a comeback next year.

*Note* these deals usually mean that sizes will be limited.

Here are some of our faves:

Lauren by Ralph Lauren wide leg pants $58.90 at Nordstrom

DKNY tweed coat $135.90 at Nordstrom

Stuart Weitzman flip flops $29.90 at 6pm.com

KORS by Michael Kors heeled sandal $118.45 at 6pm.com

Do you have any tips for finding discounted designer clothing?
