Scandinavian Brunch for Eid

It was so nice to take some time off work and go spend it with family and friends for Eid Al-Fitr.

On Eid day we went to the mosque and prayed the Eid prayer. It was full of so many new faces that I couldn’t believe how much the community I grew up in had changed.

Afterward we went for breakfast with my older brother, his wife and kids, my two younger brothers and my husband and kids as well as my parents.

It was definitely nice to get back to eating again during the day. Plus, my kids don’t have to keep saying, “are you still fasting?”

The second day of Eid my mother made an amazing Scandinavian style brunch and their non-Muslim neighbors were invited.

Sharing our celebration with others makes Eid even more special.

Looking back at these pictures I’m getting hungry again 🙂

I think it’s important to really enjoy the company of family and friends during the holidays if you are fortunate to have them nearby.

The Eid sermon I heard was also a great reminder about spreading happiness.

The speaker mentioned the fact that it was a good time to let go of any ill feelings you have toward someone and move on.

It was also refreshing to hear him say that you didn’t have to sit still or be quiet during his talk. He encouraged people to laugh and take pictures and talk to their friends.

It was a very welcoming experience and made me feel like visiting the mosque more often when I visit my parents.

What did you do this Eid?
