I like to generally think of myself as a very simple non-materialistic person.
Of course I enjoy shopping, and perhaps if I had gobs of money I would waste it on expensive handbags. But overall, I prefer to spend on experiences that will last in my memory than on “things” that pile up and clutter the apartment.
So for example, I’d rather have a nice lavish vacation than a new pair of shoes.
It’s because of this and perhaps my partial reading of Mari Kondo’s book that led me to purge my wardrobe of random clothes I’ve had for at least a decade.
It was down to bare bones, and it got to the point where I was alternating between a pair of jeans I had and some dressy black pants. Then I got a pair of some navy blue dress pants and added that to the mix.
What I realized is that I really don’t need much. But, it was starting to make me feel not so presentable. The stress of trying to remember if I had worn the same thing for 5 days or 4 days was getting to me. LOL.
In any case, because I work a job that requires me to interact with people, I figured it’s time to polish it up and look professional. Not only do you feel better, but you notice that those around you treat you as though you’re royalty. Or that’s all in my head. Either way, it’s a good thing to update things from time to time. And I was amazed at all the beautiful colors and florals that are on trend right now.
This yellow blazer from The Limited is one of my favorite pieces that I bought:
And I think it will pair perfectly with the navy blue dress pants and perhaps a pop of orange color for the top. Once I get that outfit together for a photo I’ll post some pics.
What I love about bright colors, are that they give you an extra cheerful boost, especially if you live in a place like I do, where the sun rarely makes a visit.
I’m sure you’re wondering, what else exactly it is that I splurged on.
Well, let me tell you, most of what I bought was on SALE, because that’s how I do things.
Occasionally, I will get something full price if I absolutely love it and know I’ll wear it till it gets holes in it and can’t wait for the sale. And for some reason the splurge usually comes down to “underwear”. I like to get nice and fancy things that will make me feel good. Wearing ratty worn out bras and panties (I feel squeamish writing that word… panties… ew! lol) even though only you know about it, it can make you feel a little underdressed. Spice those things up and I guarantee you’ll have a boost of confidence.
Or maybe it’s just me? HAHA
In other news, it has taken me 2 full days to figure out this darn podcast situation with the new website. I’m trying to teach myself how to get it working, hence the learning curve that is taking longer than necessary lol.
Hope you’re all doing well!
